Therapeutic Approach
About Dr. Stone
With over a decade of experience as a psychologist and therapist, I specialize in working with adults and couples, fostering an environment of growth and understanding.
Building Transformative Connections
Central to my practice is the establishment of a secure and exploratory therapeutic relationship. This enables my clients to openly express thoughts and feelings, even those previously unknown to them, facilitating personal discovery. I view therapy as a powerful platform for emotional transformation, problem-solving, and personal growth. I am dedicated to guiding clients towards positive change.
Collaborative Exploration for Change
Together with my clients, I identify specific areas they seek to change. Through a collaborative effort, we uncover internal factors sustaining these patterns, paving the way for resolution and growth.
Empowering Change Through Awareness
My approach involves self-exploration, emotion regulation, and behavior change, creating a holistic path to transformation.
Balancing Thought Restructuring and Emotional Healing
In addition to addressing maladaptive thought patterns through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I encourage clients to deeply process and heal emotional pain, combining symptom reduction with rediscovery of personal strengths (psychoanalytic approach). I am also skilled in EMDR for the resolution of traumatic memory.
Clarifying Personal Meaning and Envisioning a Compelling Future
Guided by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) principles, I assist clients in clarifying their personal meaning and envisioning a positive future. Through Life Coaching, we collaboratively plan and take effective action toward these goals.
Informed by Evidence, Neuroscience, and Extensive Clinical Experience
My work is grounded in empirical evidence from psychotherapy outcome literature and the best insights from life coaching. Furthermore, I integrate discoveries from neuroscience, ensuring deep and lasting change. Lastly, in a world of much therapy and competing ideas of what works and what doesn’t, I have been a full-time therapist for over ten years and I know the real deal of what gets results and what doesn’t.
Expertise Across Challenges
Drawing on over a decade of experience, I am adept at treating a wide range of psychiatric disorders and emotional difficulties, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, stress responses, OCD, trauma, couples/relationship problems, life transitions, spiritual discovery, men's and women’s issues, pregnancy, raising young children, codependency, and many more issues.
Additionally, I am adept at teaching mindfulness, breathwork exercises, dream analysis, executive function coaching, and related issues. Psychologists don’t offer medication services, however, throughout my career, I have worked closely with psychiatrists and can refer my clients to trusted doctors for medication when needed.
